16 November 2015 – CAVU Designwerks, experts in the creation of next-generation media-based theatres and dark rides, is launching the first dark water ride.
According to the company’s CEO, Peter Schnabel, the groundbreaking Amazon Drifter ‘pushes the envelope’ with its combination of immersive high-definition media, special effects and water.
“We’ve taken the best elements of a dark ride, integrated the best features of a water ride and introduced Special Effects to create the Amazon Drifter,” says Schnabel.
Other benefits include the ride’s small footprint, potential for multiple layouts and its state-of-the-art special effects (SFX) elements.

Although CAVU Designwerks is a brand new global attraction provider, Schnabel’s career spans 35 years and he has sold, developed and installed every type of ride in the industry. He has a history of industry ‘firsts’ including the first looping coaster at Magic Mountain back in 1976 and the Linear Induction Motor (LIM) propulsion system for coasters which was first used in Kings Island and Kings Dominion in 1995.
“We’re known as the pioneers in Media Based Attractions,” says Schnabel. “We offer a unique combination of original attraction designs, engineering experience and cutting edge fabrication systems, combined with uncompromising quality standards.”
CAVU will be launching the Amazon Drifter at the IAAPA Expo in Orlando from 16-20 November at booth 4243.
